 ‭(Hidden)‬ Updated WCCS Survey

For several years, the school district’s long-range planning committee has considered options for replacing the current Columbia City High School building.  The building has been flooded several times and has a number of deficiencies. As we look five to seven years out into the future, we also may need to improve safety and security at our elementary and middle schools and make other upgrades.

Whitley County Consolidated Schools has started to ask for community input now, well in advance of the school board making these long-range decisions.

The district conducted two surveys in September: an online survey available to parents and website visitors and a telephone survey to the broader community.  We have learned a great deal from the responses to those surveys.

Since then, we have received updated information from our financial consultants about project costs and financing.  We are conducting another round of shorter surveys that reflect the new financial data. Some of the questions are the same, but the financial questions seek district residents’ opinions on updated tax amounts.

If you have participated in one of the surveys, thank you for your cooperation.  Even though we’re several years away from asking voters to approve any school improvements, we value having community input to guide our decisions.

Most sincerely,

Dr. Patricia O'Connor
