Whitley County Consolidated Schools proudly awarded the Staff Member of the Month and Teacher of the Month for November.
Karen Koday, special education teacher at Columbia City High School, was recognized as teacher of the month.
"Karen continues to develop, execute, and reinforce individualized academic plans and behavior strategies for all of her students. Karen follows through with informing teachers daily of what has been working with a student, what struggles they have had already in the morning, and changes in their environments. Karen is working toward a plan to get outdoor equipment for an accessible way for her students to self-regulate and have fun. She has actively involved all students in developing this project. Karen continues to provide students with opportunities to develop daily living skills in their classroom kitchen and out in the community," said one of Karen’s nominators.
Karen had two nominations submitted and another nomination said, “Ms. Koday is an inspiration to all. She doesn't see limitations and encourages that same positivity in others. She encourages students to accomplish more than they think they are able to. She is also a great support for parents as they work together to help the students reach their highest potential.”

Marcia is a welcoming presence at WCCS and her positive outlook and servant heart are always on display for those who enter the doors of WCCS. Thank you, Marcia for your professionalism, kindness and your readiness to help," said Marcia’s nominator.
