Several students from Columbia City High School’s media program have been recognized by the Woman’s Press Club of Indiana (WPCI), an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, for their achievements in broadcasting.

The students were evaluated on their ability and technical skills, creative content, and professional presentation in various media categories. This recognition highlights Columbia City High School’s commitment to developing high-quality media and communication skills among its students. Led by Mr. Jordan Glaza, the program hosts WJHS 91.5 FM and several other classes to explore media creation.

Cole Patton and Sam Spurlock won first place Radio/Television Interview or Talk Show with “Cole Visits Big Brothers Big Sisters”

Jackson Gizewski and Londyn Hedington won first place Radio or Podcast Prepared Report with “The Next Gen iPhone is Changing Us”

Steven Boyd, Maddie Burns, McKenna Krontz and Caleb Summers were awarded second place Best Newscast for their program of “Who Wants Ice Cream?”

“Our kids put a lot of effort into their AV work. You should see their happy faces winning awards from their efforts! I am proud of them,” said Jordan Glaza, WJHS Studios Manager and Columbia City High School Media, AV and Communication Teacher.

To be eligible for awards, the work had to be produced, published, printed or broadcast during this school year or of seniors who graduated last spring. Students who won first place were submitted to the national National Federation of Press Women Contest. Those national winners will be notified before the end of the school year.

Columbia City High School continues to support innovative media education preparing students for potential careers in broadcasting, journalism, and digital communications. Listen to WJHS 91.5 The Eagle for 24/7 music, CCHS sports, future content creators, school news and community events.

WJHS is celebrating its 40 Year Anniversary with a clothing fundraiser at Running Around Screen Printing until May 25, 2025. Order online at wccsonline.com/o/cchs/page/overview-wjhs

Congratulations, eagles!
