#TeacherAppreciation
To wrap up Teacher Appreciation Week, we're sharing our longest-serving teacher! To know Mrs. Pentangelo is to love her.
Barb Pentangelo has been with WCCS for 47.5 years!
"I love students, the community, the positivity, and the continued goal of achieving great things," is what Bard said keeps her at WCCS.
As a licensed teacher in English and French, Pentangelo has always taught language in Whitley County Consolidated Schools.
"I started teaching in my hometown in Northwest Indiana, a year in New Jersey, and then destiny brought me here," Pentangelo said.
For advice for younger teachers, Pentangelo encouraged them to, "figure out an organizational system for all the correspondence we receive in print and electronic form. Keep a file folder for all of the important papers, like the Teaching Contract. Use the school calendar to chart the curriculum. Each class period is a step in one's life journey. Expect a stumble, now and then, but use it as a resource for the future. As my Mom would tell me, "Barb, tomorrow is another Day!"
And for her former students, Mrs. Pentangelo has to say, "I am proud to have been your teacher and keep Whitley County and CCHS the great place that it is!"
Thank you for the love and support you have shared this week for our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week!

With the proclamation wrote by Mayor Ryan Daniel and delivered by Chip Hill, second grade planted an Oak Tree at the front of the school with help from the Columbia City Tree Board.
In addition to the tree, three books were donated to the school media center to be checked out and read!

Happy School Bus Driver Appreciation Day to our WCCS Transportation Staff!
From our bus drivers, substitute drivers, bus aides, bus monitors and our technicians, coordinator and transportation director, it takes a lot of dedication to transport 2,779 students to and from school each day!
They run 110 routine routes a day covering more than 2,500 miles Monday through Friday!
In addition to getting our students to school safely, bus drivers help transport students and staff to educational experiences, athletic events, extracurricular club events, and more throughout the whole year!
Thank your bus driver and staff.
