At Whitley County Consolidated Schools (WCCS), we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible maintenance workers who keep our schools running smoothly all year round. These guys are the backbone of our operational success, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything operates well.
Chet Burch, WCCS Maintenance Technician for 3.5 years, is a Journeyman Carpenter and was a commercial building inspector before joining the WCCS team. Chet is skilled in construction and building compliance.
Chad Ralston, WCCS Maintenance Technician for 3.5 years, is a Journeyman Electrician and has expertise in electrical systems and infrastructure maintenance.
“We help with any projects we can save money on and make sure the buildings and day-to-day operations go well. We help facilitate capital projects and do a lot of behind-the-scenes work,” said Chet Burch.
Our maintenance team goes far beyond simple repairs. They're problem solvers and cost-savers who handle everything from routine maintenance to critical capital projects. Whether it's snow plowing during the winter, responding to emergency water leaks on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, or managing complex infrastructure improvements, they are always ready.
Chad added “there is a lot we can do together because of our prior experiences and every day is different. We work with custodians and help keep all inspections compliant for all of the buildings.”
While their home base is Central Office, Chet and Chad spend their day throughout the district.
“Chad and Chet are worth their weight in gold. They are given multiple projects, working together to create a beautiful space. One of the projects they have finished is the eSports room at ISMS. They both have their own sets of skills, and they learn from each other. These fellows have put their heart and soul into their work, which shows. As a corporation, we are very blessed to have these two guys on our team,” said Vicky Borders, WCCS Corporation Custodial Trainer.
Their responsibilities are comprehensive and their dedication to WCCS buildings and infrastructure is admired. Thank you for all you do, Chet and Chad!
