Columbia City High School celebrated its inaugural induction of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), recognizing outstanding students in Career and Technical Education programs.

The ceremony, held on March 27, 2025, honored students who demonstrated excellence in technical education, leadership, and professional skills. According to Matt Bock, NTHS Advisor, the new chapter joins a national organization that has recognized more than 1 million members since 1984.

"This is a testament to our CTE programs and the caliber of kids we celebrate. They've shown exceptional dedication to their chosen technical fields and embody the core values of knowledge, skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership,”  said Jennifer Reiff, Director of Innovation and Career Technical Education.

The induction ceremony highlighted the NTHS mission to celebrate excellence in workforce education and promote critical workplace values. Students were formally inducted after demonstrating academic achievement and commitment to their technical programs.

The local NTHS chapter's founding board members include: Dave Bersel, Matt Bock, Dan Krill, Jennifer Reiff and Carrie Veit who guided the inaugural group of inductees.

The National Technical Honor Society's motto, "Success favors the prepared mind," encapsulates the organization's commitment to preparing students for successful careers.

Students submitted an application and had a cumulative 3.0 GPA, completed their chosen CTE pathway, submitted three letters of recommendation, and logged 15 hours of community service during high school.

The program is available to CCHS juniors and seniors and the application will be available in the fall. Students can be inducted into both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honors Society.
