Whitley County Consolidated Schools Board of School Trustees approved an updated school calendar for the 2024-2025 year to reflect five additional professional development (or teacher only) days for our staff.
The additional staff-only days were added through a 1003 waiver approved by the State. Students attend 5 fewer days during the school year but still exceed state guidelines for the number of required instructional minutes for the school year.
The change in calendar provides WCCS staff professional development opportunities to advance district strategic plan pillars of Comprehensive Student Experience, Employee Experience and Organizational Excellence.
Find the calendar on the WCCS App or online at wccsonline.com.

Students and Staff Honors Veterans
"I am so grateful so many in our WCCS Family have rallied behind writing mail call for Honor Flight. We had kindergartners from Mary Raber, Key Club members from the high school, and other elementary and middle school students submit mail earlier this fall.
Most recently, eighth-grade social studies teachers said they will include mail call in their Veteran's Day activities this Friday, and many seventh-grade kiddos wrote mail call letters for their “Kindness Project” in Donna Deam’s class.
Attached are pictures from Beth Hart at Little Turtle of her sweet first graders writing notes for mail call this week.
Thank you all for the ongoing support! I am so grateful for our community!"
This message from Olivia Coons, Indian Springs teacher and Honor Flight Volunteer, highlights some of our WCCS involvement for Veterans Day.
Also, remember the Indian Springs Veterans Fish Fry is tonight!
