Here are the ILEARN spirit days for the first week of testing (April 15-19).

ISMS will start ILEARN on Tuesday, April 16. We will test from 8:20-11:20 a.m. If students need more time, testing may be extended. We ask that you limit all appointments during this time as attendance is important during our testing window. Please make sure that your student eats a good breakfast each morning.

Congratulations to the Eagles Above the Influence Week art contest winners!

Today the Charitable Champions finalists made their pitches to members of the HANDS Foundation. After learning about philanthropy and the role of nonprofits in our community, students wrote a grant on behalf of a local nonprofit organization to help them fund a new program or project. The nonprofits represented in today's presentations were Giving Gardens of Indiana, Royal Family Kids Camp, Whitley County Council on Aging, The Forklift, Camp Whitley, and the Humane Society of Whitley County. Thank you to HANDS and the Community Foundation of Whitley County for partnering with us for this unique experience for every 8th grader.

School Smiles is at Indian Springs on April 15.

Yesterday, ISMS kicked off "Eagles Above the Influence" week. Each day has a “spirit day” theme, guest speakers, and lunchtime activities to help reinforce the message about rising above harmful decisions. Our goal during this week is to help raise awareness about the effects of substance use, drugs, alcohol, and harmful decisions and encourage all ISMS students to "RISE ABOVE!"

Congratulations to our bands and choirs for a great performance tonight.

Many classes across WCCS have been writing letters and coloring pictures for Honor Flight Northeast Indiana's Mail Call program. Below are pictures of ISMS' 6th Grade Eagles who earned Honor Flight Guardian t-shirts and mini patriotic pillows for collecting the most mail on the 6 Eagle Team! Thank you to everyone in our district who helped collect between 2,000-3,000 pieces of mail for this outreach project!
As a reminder, Mrs. Coons at ISMS collects letters, notes, and pictures all year long to be given to Honor Flight for the Mail Call program. If your 4H group, church group, family, or other activity group would like to participate, please feel free to contact Mrs. Coons!

Due to the number of student absences the last few days and very few dance tickets purchased up to this point, ISMS Admin and Student Council Leadership have decided to cancel the school dance scheduled for this Thursday. We want to be proactive with student learning, and good attendance is vital. Hosting a large school function like a dance, although lots of fun for kids, could be a spreader of this bug resulting in more student absences.
Students who have already purchased a ticket will be refunded in the coming days or will have the option to transfer that money toward the school-wide Ro Sham Bo tournament.

As part of the upcoming Eagles Above the Influence Week, a creative arts contest is being held. Submissions are due Tuesday, March 19 by noon to either school counselor or on their special Google Classroom (code gb5hnxz).

Please join us for the next band and choir concert on Wednesday, March 20. The 6th and 7th grades take the stage at 6 p.m. and the 8th grade at 7:30 p.m.

A huge thank you to Journey Fitness 333 and Coach Alton for teaching yoga to the eighth graders this week!
