Just a reminder that students have this Monday off while our staff spends the day in professional development meetings.

From March 9–20, the ISMS Student Council is hosting a charity drive to support local organizations. Each grade level has been assigned a specific organization to collect items for:

** 6th Grade: Humane Society of Whitley County **

** 7th Grade: Mission 25 **

** 8th Grade: Babe of Whitley County **

At the end of the collection period, we will count the donations to see which grade level collected the most items. Thank you for helping our students support these important community causes.

Attention current 7th graders! Are you interested in building with your hands or exploring a career in construction? Join us this summer for the ISMS Construction Club to learn more about the industry while having fun building new things. Space is limited, so sign up as soon as possible! Scan the QR code on the flyer below to register before the May 1st deadline. An informational meeting for parents will be held after sign-ups close.

Great job to all the band and choir students on an excellent performance tonight. The hard work and hours of practice were evident in every song. A big thank you to our directors for their leadership and to the families who came out to support our musicians. It was a great night for the fine arts program.

Last Wednesday was a big day for our 8th graders at the Charitable Champions Nonprofit Fair. We want to say a huge thank you to the 11 organizations that spent their morning with us. Our students got to hear the real stories behind the work being done in Whitley County — from supporting local families and youth to caring for our history and environment. A special thanks to the Community Foundation of Whitley County for helping us pull this event together. Our students are now heading into the grant-writing phase, where they’ll be working to turn what they learned into real support for these organizations. 8th grade made it a game to remember! 🔥🏐 The Staff vs. Student Volleyball showdown was full of intensity, teamwork, and unforgettable moments on the court! Staff won 30-28.

Our students brought the spirit of the Olympic Games to life during last week’s PE Olympics, showing incredible teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship in every event! 🏅👏

Starting Monday, we’re celebrating National FFA Week with a full week of FFA Spirit Days, so check out the flyer and join in by dressing up each day. It’s a fun way to show support for a program that means a lot to our school and community.

FFA got its start back in 1928, and Columbia City’s chapter has been part of that story almost from the beginning. Chartered in 1929, it’s the oldest active FFA chapter in Indiana and one of the very first in the state. Thanks to strong support from local alumni and the community (and great leadership at both the middle and high school levels), the program continues to be recognized for outstanding agricultural education.

Students in Mrs. Fager’s 7th grade math classes were learning the Pythagorean Theorem in two fun ways. Honors classes worked on finding right triangles, while regular classes took on Mission: Impossible — Math Edition — dodging “laser beams” while solving problems around the room.
