Columbia City High School seeks a Construction Trades Teacher to join our Career and Technical Education team. The applicant will teach students about construction trades and help them earn industry certifications with classroom knowledge and hands-on work experience.
Applicants should have construction trades experience and be able to plan, prepare and deliver instructional material that facilitates active learning, an ability to communicate effectively, knowledge of relevant technology, and a proven ability to work on a regular and punctual basis.
While this is a full-time position, there is an opportunity for this teacher to begin this second semester as part-time. The instructor will begin on January 3, 2024.

The Columbia City High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) team competed at the Regional Contest, and nearly all students qualified for the State Contest in March.
The BPA advisors are Jared Ambrose and Mary Ann James.

Class of 2028 | Parent Meeting is tomorrow, Thursday, November 30, at 6 p.m. in the CCHS Performing Arts Center.
At this meeting, you will receive important information regarding diploma types, graduation requirements, freshman course selection forms, high school course recommendations, and Eagle Tech Academy and our two new academies: Innovation Academy and Service Academy.
Understanding the academy structures and course and diploma options, visiting the building, and meeting high school staff will help ensure a smoother transition into high school for your student, as well as you as the parent!
You and your student must make every effort to attend this event so you will have information about these changes. Every parent must complete an application by December 8 to determine which academy fits their student best. We encourage you to contact a counselor with questions if you cannot attend.

This individual must work well with others and have prior experience with students. They should be punctual, collaborative and communicate well with others.

Ava grows her skills and passions at Columbia City First Church of God and says, "I have loved meeting so many new people, and I'm thankful I got to know people I've seen at the church but didn't have the chance to talk to. I have a better understanding of the church environment and editing software."

Intern Spotlights | Our highlights come from our Health and Human Services (HHS) Academy today.
Brooke is with Mission 25 Community Outreach Services at Miami Village Community Center. Brooke says, "my absolute favorite part of my internship experience is knowing that I am making at least a little bit of a difference in those kids' lives. It is one of the best feelings to see the kids' faces light up when they see me at the door of the community center after they get off the bus. I hope that I can continue volunteering and helping out at the community center in the future."
Lauren is placed at Brook and Co. Salon and says "I've benefitted from this experience already in how enhanced my people skills are now."

Intern Spotlights | Sidney interns with Three Rivers Dermatology and says "my favorite part of my internship is building relationships with all the nurses and people around me."
Cole enjoys "being around the guys and being taught, seeing how things work in the field. Learning and knowing what I'm doing ahead of being in this career has helped" at the Columbia City Police Department.
The Welding II seniors traveled to Local 166 today and met with CCHS alum Damian Reust, an instructor at the Local 166 Union.

CCHS Spell Bowl competed at the State Finals Saturday ending their season 11th among Class 1 schools and 16th among all 137 teams competing this season in all classes.
The top spellers were Ava Rowe with a perfect score, Jordan Potter and Brie Montel with near-perfect scores, and Joel Yager and Maxwell McKinney only missing 2 words each.
