During the month of March, the students and staff showed how lucky they felt to have certain people, experiences, and things in their lives!
We loved to see how full the board became throughout the month!

It's tasting day! After collecting for a few weeks, Mr. Rose's and Mrs. Hare's class got to finally taste the syrup made from their sap.
One of the students said, "I'm pretty sure this is the BEST syrup I've ever tasted!" It's safe to say that the fourth graders loved learning about and helping produce their own maple syrup!

On Monday, Coesse Second and Third graders had a visit from the Fort Wayne Children's Choir Directors.
The directors spoke to students about what choir is like and led them through fun singing exercises and solfege warm-ups.
Founded in 1984, the Fort Wayne Children's Choir has nearly 250 singers from schools all over the area and is dedicated to developing musical skills, building confidence, and creating lifelong memories through the joy of singing. Their mission is to provide high-quality choral music education for children ages 6-18.
Thank you to the directors for visiting and helping to spread their love for music!

Our fourth grade students experienced the Indy 500 today with the Indy 500 Mobile trip.
This program brings the world of Indy 500 to students by offering interactive stations led by 500 Festival staff and volunteers featuring racing equipment and an actual Indy Car.
Our students learned from an actual Pit Crew Member who served on an Indy 500 winning team!
A special thank you to our local participants Brian Bills, Sheriff Jason Spencer, and Todd Cook for sharing their racing experiences and help to bring the Indy 500 to life!

If you're missing any items, have your child(ren) check the Lost and Found. We're happy to send them home!

Mrs. Genth’s 2nd-grade class read the book Charlotte’s Web and watched the movie last.
In addition to reading Charlotte’s Web students met a real pig from Genth Family Farm!
They also made spiders fly with parachutes to see what it was like at the end of the book for Charlotte’s baby spiders to float away when they hatched from her egg sac.
When the students finished the movie, they compared the book to the movie. They found quite a few differences!

Happy Pi Day from fifth grade!
Students spent time talking about circles through various activities and challenges in celebration of the day. And of course, no Pi Day is complete without a sweet circle treat as well!

On Saturday, Coesse's Rockin' Robos Robotics Team had a great end-of-the-season competition. All three teams did great and the green team made it to the finals! All of the students have shown a tremendous amount of innovation, dedication, and teamwork this season. Great work Rockin' Robos!

Fifth-grade students selected informational books about various animals to read to a 2nd-grade buddy. They practiced their fluency and worked through pronouncing scientific words to make sure they were ready to share the book. After reading to our buddies, each buddy shared with the large group the most fascinating fact they learned. It was a great time!

Today is National Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day!
We're celebrating Chet Burch and Chad Ralston! They are the district maintenance technicians and help keep our buildings running day-to-day!
“Chad and Chet are worth their weight in gold. They are given multiple projects, working together to create a beautiful space. One of the projects they have finished is the eSports room at ISMS. They both have their own sets of skills, and they learn from each other. These fellows have put their heart and soul into their work, which shows. As a corporation, we are very blessed to have these two guys on our team,” said Vicky Borders, WCCS Corporation Custodial Trainer.

When Night to Shine was in Columbia City, our student ambassadors were able to donate $694 to the event!
During the holiday months, the student ambassadors raised money by selling candy grams and pop-its! We are so proud of our student ambassadors and all of their hard work!

Coesse’s fourth grade headed out to the Coesse woods on Monday to tap maple trees under the direction of Mr. Rose.
The students were thrilled to see the sap start dripping immediately after putting in the taps! In class, students have been practicing measuring angles to get a good sap flow and circumference to estimate the age of the trees they tapped.
Students have also been keeping an eye on the weather, waiting for the perfect high and low temperatures. Overall, the students are excited to learn about the entire process from tree to table and the history behind maple syrup!
